The Curonian Spit
Home of sand dunes, long beaches and the Hill of... Witches!
The Curonian Spit is a 98 km long, thin, curved sand-dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea coast. Its southern portion lies within Kaliningrad, Russia and its northern - within southwestern Lithuania. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared by the two countries. The Curonian Spit is home to the highest drifting sand dunes in Europe and is a popular resort that has long sandy beaches and small fishermen settlements. And when you stop in one of those - Juodkrantė - you will find the Hill of Witches that has its whole long story.
