Estonia has over 1500 islands and Saaremaa is the largest. Located in the West Estonian Archipelago, south of Hiiumaa island and west of Muhu island, it can be reached either by ferry or driving from Muhu island. And there's usually ice roads during winters so it's possible to drive on the frozen sea to reach Saaremaa. One of the most attractive sights in Saaremaa island is the Kaali meteorite crater, a place full of legends. All churches in Saaremaa are also worth visiting even if you're not "into churches" while travelling - they are all so simple and unique. The traditional Estonian wooden windmill is the symbol of the island. Even though there's not many of them still standing, you will get to see a group of 5 windmills in Angla. And the last but not least - Kuressaare town. It is the only town in Saaremaa and the place where you will visit that medieval castle. Just make sure you follow the tour guide! It's easy to get lost in this castle...
